Panchamrit or Charnamrut is a holy concoction. It is essentially made from five holy ingredients or panch amrut. Majorly, we use it for Hindu rituals and puja. It tastes sweet and milky with nuts coming in each sip.

Panchamrit has five main ingredients, yogurt, cow’s milk, honey, sugar and ghee. Many people even tend to add jaggery in place of sugar. However, you can always suit yourself!


It is believed that Gods attained immortality after drinking Panchamrit. Therefore, each ingredient used in it is special and has its own significance. For instance:

Milk – It symbolizes purity. Always cow milk is used to make this drink.
Honey – It grants you sweet and kind speech.
Yogurt – It aids procreation.
Sugar – It brings you happiness.
Ghee – It marks knowledge.
Apart from these must have ingredients, dry fruits and tulsi leaves are also added to this prasad.

  • 1/2 litre Raw Cow's milk
  • 200 g Cow's Milk Curd
  • 4 tsp Honey
  • 2 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cow's Milk Ghee
  • 10-12 Phool makhane cut into small pieces
  • 1 tsp Chironji
  • 10-12 Tulsi leaves
  • 1 tsp Ganga Jal
  • 1 tbsp Almonds Chopped
  • 1 tbsp Cashew Nuts Chopped
  • 1 tbsp Dry Coconut Grated
  • 1 tbsp Raisins Chopped

How To Make Panchamrit:

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Keep refrigerated.
  3. Use only cow's milk and yogurt to make panchamrit.
  4. Make it 30 minutes prior to use and refrigerate until ready to serve.
